Dinraal BOTW Guide

Dragons are a common occurrence in The Legend of Zelda series, and there are three dragons in Breath of the Wild. These dragons are majestic and awe-inspiring. As you make your way through the Eldin Mountains, you’ll come across Dinraal, and she may take your breath away.

Each of these dragons sheds valuable parts that you can use to upgrade your armor or make a powerful elixir, but they can be hard to find if you don’t know where they are or when to find them.

Dinraal represents the Goddess of Power (while the other two dragons represent the other two goddesses of the Triforce), and all three are tied to the environment that reflects their element.

Dinraal can be found in the Eldin region near Death Mountain, where it’s hot. Her body is coated in flames, which can make her dangerous to get near, but she doesn’t harbor any ill will toward any other race.

Key Details Up Front

Dinraal is a fire-breathing dragon that lives in the hot region of Eldin near Death Mountain. She holds several valuable parts that can help you upgrade your armor, but you’ll need some protection and special arrows to get them.

Dinraal and Her Parts

Dinraal BOTW Guide

Dinraal is a huge dragon representing the Goddess of Power. She lives in the Eldin region near Death Mountain. She’s very hard to keep up with, but if you can approach her and shoot her with an arrow, you can farm her for scales. Before approaching her, you may need to make a speed-boosting elixir or meal.

Dinraal can be quite difficult because she can breathe fire. You have to have the right fireproof armor. The Flamebreaker set is best, and having healing items on hand is also smart, just in case you get caught in the flames.

Dinraal appears around the Eldin Great Skeleton in the east at 5 am, and you can shoot her from the ground in the East Deplian Badlands. Catching the updraft from here is also easy. Use ice and electric arrows to make it easier.

Depending on which part of the dragon you need, you can aim for different parts. Striking almost any part of the body will yield a scale, but if you need the claw, you’ll have to hit the claw. To get a shard of Dinraal’s horn, you’ll have to hit one of the horns on her face, and to get a fang, you’ll have to hit her mouth.

This will help you upgrade your Barbarian Armor set as well as your Armor of the Wild set. You can use two scales to upgrade your Trousers of the Wild one level. You can farm materials several times over to make sure you get everything you need.

Finding Dinraal

There are two ways to find Dinraal and get the part you need. Follow the path along Tanager Canyon and then exit north of the Gerudo Highlands. Climb the cliffs south of Eldin Great Skeleton and wait for the updraft. Catch the updraft and fly north. Aim your arrow at the dragon part you want.

You can also stand on the Tabantha Great Bridge at 5 am and wait for Dinraal to fly under you. When the updraft comes, paraglide above Dinraal and aim for the area you need.

Dinraal’s Scale

Dinraal BOTW

Dinraal’s scale can be used as a crafting ingredient. You can make elixirs, upgrade armor sets, or sell it. It also adds 90 seconds to buffs in meals. In order to obtain Dinraal’s scale, you can hit any part of her body.

Two scales will upgrade your Trousers of the Wild. One scale will upgrade your Fierce Deity Mask.

Dinraal’s Horn

You can use Dinraal’s horn for 30 minutes of buffs in meals. It can also be sold or used to upgrade armor sets. You have to shoot Dinraal’s horn with an arrow in order to get it.

Two shards of horn will upgrade your Trousers of the Wild. One shard of horn will upgrade your Fierce Deity Mask or Barbarian Mask.

Dinraal’s Fang

Shooting Dinraal’s teeth with an arrow will yield Dinraal’s fang. This fang can be used to make Dubious Food or Crimson Dye.

Two fangs will upgrade your Trousers of the Wild. One fang will upgrade your Fierce Deity Mask.

Dinraal’s Claw

Dinraal’s claw can be used to add 3 minutes 30 seconds of buff duration in meals. It can also be sold or used to upgrade your armor.

Two claws upgrades your Trousers of the Wild. One claw upgrades your Fierce Deity Mask.

Spring of Power

Spring of Power

There are 42 shrines in Breath of the Wild. Each contains a quest. The Spring of Power is one of these. Link must successfully complete this quest and the Tutsuwa Nima Shrine behind it in the Akkala region.

To begin, find Nobo in the East Akkala Stable and speak to him. He tells you of The Spring of Powerand. Use your map to head west. The Goddess at The Spring of Powerand will tell you to offer Dinraal’s scale received from the red spirit to the Spring of Power.

You can get Dinraal’s scale from Dinraal, the giant red dragon who flies high above Hyrule. Find her flying above the Eldin Mountains near Death Mountain through Tanagar Canyon. When you find her, shoot her with your most powerful bow and arrow. Shooting her anywhere on her body will drop an arrow.

Go back to the Spring of Power and place it in front of the goddess statue. This opens a gate, giving you access to the Tutsuwa Nima Shrine.

Tutsuwa Nima Shrine

This shrine is in the Akkala Region. It’s behind the Spring of Power, east of the East Akkala Stable. You have to complete the Spring of Power Shrine Quest to reveal it. You’ll battle the Guardian Scout IV, which is a machine wielding a Guardian Sword++, a Guardian Spear++, and a Guardian Shield++.

For this Major Test of Strength, you’ll need good armor and reflexes. Shock Arrows, guardian, electric, and ancient melee weapons are highly effective. The best and fastest way to defeat Guardian Scouts is to trigger flurries.

After you defeat the scout, you’ll get its weapons and the treasure chest will release a Flamespear in the next room. You’ll be able to finish the shrine by grabbing the Spirit Orb.
