Hyrule Warriors is an action-packed game that lets you play as Link, Zelda, Midna, Agitha, Impa, and many more in order to defeat the evil Cia with a combined effort! It’s up to all the warriors of Hyrule to stop her from taking control of time.
However, not everyone is on the same side in Hyrule.
Gameplay and Controls
There are four main types of attacks, which you’ll need to use in order to help defeat your foes in Hyrule Warriors.
Sword Gauge
This gauge will build up as you strike enemies. Use this gauge for special versions of the hero’s spin attack and other powerful attacks! Keep an eye on it, though, because if it reaches maximum capacity, it will break.
Bow and Arrows
This weapon has the ability to take down enemies in a single hit but runs out after a while. You can also use it as a shield against certain attacks.
Gauntlets and Boots
This weapon has its own unique special attack, and it charges up as you strike enemies. Each character’s attack is different!
Bombs
These weapons can be used to blow up walls or objects that stand in your way. Just keep an eye on the blast radius. It’ll do more damage if you hit closer to the center!
Different attacks will allow you to defeat all kinds of monsters as you progress. However, every warrior’s attack is limited by their weapon’s durability. Make sure that you use your power wisely, or else it’ll break!
Weapons
You can repair your weapons at the Weapon Shop in-game. Alternatively, you could also ask for help from the Smithy.
By talking to the Smithy, you can upgrade your weapons! For example, if you have a wooden sword and want to make it stronger so that it won’t break easily, just take it to him! You can strengthen any of your weapons up to level two at first, but after completing certain missions in Adventure Mode, you’ll be able to push it up to level three!
Weapons are not the only things that can be upgraded. You can also increase your battle gauge, bow and arrow capacity, gauntlet, and boot power, as well as your maximum health at the Smithy Shop.
You can find Q-Medals hidden throughout Adventure Mode stages. Collecting them will increase your battle power, luck, and more. You can also sell any medals you don’t need for rupees.
There are many kinds of Q-Medals that have different effects, so try collecting as many as you can!
Adventure Mode
In Adventure Mode, if you’re ever struggling to progress through a stage, why not try changing the difficulty level to easy? This will allow easier enemies but also give you more rupees and other items.
You can change the difficulty at any time in Adventure Mode by pressing Y on the map screen. There are six different modes, including a very easy mode which makes most missions incredibly simple! If you want exclusive rewards or battle items, though, you’ll need to clear stages on harder difficulties.
It can be difficult to carry rupees back to the hideout when you’re in the middle of a mission, so try defeating all of your enemies before heading back! You can also find loads of them hidden throughout each stage if you’re feeling brave.
You might want to use your hard-earned rupees to buy something new from the shop, but make sure you don’t waste them all at once! Take a look around the hideout first. You never know what you might find there.
Co-op Play
If you’re not quite strong enough to beat a certain mission, you can ask for help. You can join another player’s mission by going to the hideout and talking to a character there. Be careful, though, because if you die during a mission, you won’t be able to use the other player again!
You can also play missions on co-op mode with friends. This allows you both to take on a stage together online. Just choose multiplayer from the Adventure Mode menu, and then choose either local or online play. You can trade items with other players by visiting them in their hideouts!
When you’re playing with other people, items that you collect when you complete a stage will sometimes become slightly altered versions of themselves. This is referred to as an item’s “luck value.” Collecting more of the same item will increase its luck value. Different items will level up at different speeds, so try and collect as many as you can!
You can also make your life easier by giving other players gifts. If they’re good enough friends with you, they’ll be able to use the items that you send them!
When playing co-op missions, if you have a certain weapon, the other player will automatically be able to use it too. So make sure that you keep an eye on their equipment!
Rather than playing co-op with your friends, you can also battle them. The rules are exactly the same as in co-op mode, but you’ll be trying to get the highest score.
The Storyline
There’s a new evil in Hyrule, and it is up to Link, Zelda, Impa, Agitha, Midna, Lana, Darunia, and Fi (the spirit of the hero’s sword) to stop him. Before they can face this new enemy, however, they must get rid of Cia, who has been revived by an unknown force.
While the game is not much of a storyline, there are events that happen throughout Hyrule Warriors to give it its own unique story.
This game may be all about fighting for peace, but not everyone is fighting to save the kingdom. So who’s really good and who’s really bad? Let’s take a look at some of these characters!

Princess Zelda
Princess Zelda is the ruler of Hyrule, but Cia steals the Triforce in order to gain control over all of time and space! She takes it upon herself to stop this terrible fate from happening, so she’ll do anything in her power. I guess that includes protecting evil?
You might recognize the name Zelda from other popular games like the legend of Zelda! But that’s not where this story ends.
She was once a member of the Twili, but she decided to break away from them in order to protect her kingdom against evil. She even faced off with Zant during his reign of terror. But what will happen now that she’s fighting alongside Cia?
Zelda uses the rapier as her main weapon, but it can be upgraded to claws to deal even more damage. She has an “elemental” spin attack that deals extra damage, and her ultimate move is called Light Arrow!
Impa
Impa was once Zelda’s personal bodyguard, and she’ll do whatever it takes to protect her princess. She’s a powerful warrior with magical powers, and she has the power to stop time itself!
Impa is an experienced fighter who can jump high and spin in midair, but she can also vanish into thin air if you’re not careful! But, she co-operates well with the other characters, so it can be interesting to watch her moves during battle.
Agitha
Agitha is a little girl who’s crazy about bugs! She thinks they’re cute and wants to collect them all.
She’s a skilled fighter who uses the beetle as her main weapon. Her special move is to summon a giant bug, and she can even turn herself into one as well!
Midna
You may recognize Midna from Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, but this time, she’s not an ally.
Midna is a member of the Twili who has come to Hyrule for one reason – revenge. She’s very powerful, so she can even bend people’s minds. However, it seems that Midna may have lost some of her powers since Cia stole the Triforce.
Cia
One word – evil!
Cia was once a guardian of time, but she decides to use her powers for evil instead. She’s an interesting character because, throughout the game, you can see different sides of her.
At first, Cia is just out to get revenge on the elements and get their power before anyone else does. But after she gets the Triforce, she’s consumed with power and begins to destroy everything!
But after all that darkness takes over Cia for good, there is hope. She has a “good” side still left in her heart, though it seems like it’s too late…
Cia uses the Scepter as her main weapon, and she can even turn into a dark monster using the Scepter’s magic. She has an attack called “Dark Energy,” which shoots out dark energy everywhere, and her ultimate move is to shoot three powerful blasts of magic!
Volga
Not much is known about Volga at this point in time, except that he doesn’t seem to be on the side of good, that’s for sure. It seems like Cia has her eye on him, but is he going to overthrow her?
Volga uses a sword as his main weapon, and he can turn into a dragon as well! He also has an attack called “Heat Blast,” which does a lot of damage and can even break a warrior’s guard.
Ganondorf
This guy is a huge force to be reckoned with! He has a ton of strength and power that will blow you away. But what happens when he gets his hands on the Triforce?
He starts doing terrible things like fighting his own allies and not caring about anything but himself. He changed from a guy who wanted to find the Triforce for good reasons to someone who wants it all for himself!
Ganon uses a trident as his main weapon, and he can also shoot laser beams. His ultimate move is called “Beast Ganon,” where he turns into a huge beast and tramples everything in his path!
Wizzro
This guy is pretty mysterious. He seems to be working with Cia, but his intentions are unknown. There is no doubt that he’ll do whatever it takes to strengthen his power.
Wizzro uses the Ring as his main weapon, and he can even turn himself invisible by using the Ring’s power. His special move is to shoot a huge beam of dark energy, and he has an attack called “Heat Vision,” which shoots beams of fire everywhere!
Zant
Zant is another mysterious character who seems to be working with Cia. He’s gigantic but surprisingly fast!
As you can probably guess, his main weapon is a huge sword. And he uses magic to make himself even bigger!
His special move is called “Tornado of Terror,” where he summons a giant tornado, and anyone caught in the tornado will take a ton of damage!
As for his ultimate move, Zant turns into a huge beast and starts jumping all over the place!

This game is the second Zelda game ever made. It’s a bit different from most other Zelda games, but it still has the same elements that make Zelda so great!
You have to go on an adventure, find tons of secret items, and defeat evil bosses. This game might be a little bit easier than the other games in the series, but it’s still tons of fun!
Skyward Sword
The newest Zelda game for Wii is Skyward Sword. It features many new elements that expand upon the previous Zeldas, so this one will feel fresh and unique!
One of the main points of Skyward Sword is to explore the world called “Skyloft,” where you’ll find new characters, dungeons, secrets, and more!
There are also tons of items that you can upgrade by finding treasure chests or completing dungeons. This time around, Link uses a sword to fight enemies, and he also has the ability to fly!
